Tapta Mudra dharana and Gaudiya Vaishnavas
Samskara Deepika of Srila Gopala Bhatta Goswami addresses both these questions of 1) why GVs don't do chakra/shankha mudra dharana (like the Maadhvas do) 2) Don't do tapta mudra dharana.
1) It says having been initiated into the mantras of SrimanNarayana they would surely have to put the tapta and chandana mudras. They would have to put the mudras of the names and astras/weapons according to the deity's mantra they have been initiated into for example Matsya and others. But for all kaarshnas, that is the upasakas for Sri Krishna the cool mudras from Gopi chandana bearing the names of Sri Krishna is recommended.
2) This we have already discussed. The tapta mudras /fire branding is not necessary according to Sri Chaitanya Maharaphu for the people of Kaliyuga mostly whose minds are impure. The commentary for Prameya Ratnavali seems to be actually verbatim copied from Samskara Deepika of Srila Gopala Bhatta Goswami.
Hence I think this is applicable not just for Raganuga bhaktas but also Vaidhi bhaktas of the Gaudiya parampara. Raganuaga bhaktas may further choose to not incorporate other aspects of Vaidhi bhakti which are not compatible with their bhava BRS 1.2.296
My conclusion is that the tilaka, mudras, the worshipped deity are all related to the received Diksha mantras. It does not make much sense to wear tilaka/mudras which don't have direct correspondence with the diksha mantras received.
